Sumerian ethnic identity - 
simple statements to understand what kind of racial identity the Sumerians had.


 
The Sumerians were not Aryans(i.e. not Indo-Europeans)
The Sumerians were not Europeans.

How do we know? Because
Sumerian civilization was being excavated in the 1920s. 
So in the 1930s and 1940s Adolf Hitler would have proclaimed the Sumerians as proof of the master race, if the the Sumerians were Aryans or Europeans.
Adolf Hitler DID NOT PROCLAIM the Sumerians as the master race.
German scientists understood there was something fundamentally black/brown/dark skinned about the Sumerians.

The Sumerians were dark skinned people. They called themselves the "Blackheaded People". Sumerians took pride in their dark physical features.

The Sumerians were dark skinned people like Tutankhamen from ancient Egypt was a dark skinned person. 
Ancient Egypt was considered as a "negrecised" or "negro-ised" civilization by various scientists.

The Sumerians were like the Tutankhamen faces of Mesopotamia.

-African shaved heads.
-Big African eyes.
-Horizontally long skulls,relatively low foreheads (Dolicocephalic not Brachycephalic).
-Probably dark skins (because they called themselves SAG-GIGA which associates humanity with black colour).

[i.e. Sumerians had Eurafrican appearance, similar to modern Mulattos.
Sumerian skulls are mostly dolicocephalic:really closer to negroids than caucasians.]

EurAsian influenced culture.[Sumer was part of Asia geographically.]

Some have described Sumerian language as "Scythic" or like Scythian.

Eur-asian/Altaic Language (also influenced by African language).
Sumerian might be a pidgin/creole language influence by African and Ural-altaic language.

A writing system that started out as pictographic(african) but developed into cuneiform(similar to modern Asian writing systems.)
i.e. North African Hieroglyphics are a very pictographic writing system and the Sumerian writing system started as pictographic writing.
[e.g. The Kish tablet is dated to 3500-3200 B.C and is pictographic.]
